Butch Ferrell
State Cheif of State - Army

Butch was born January 16, 1945 in Akron, OH. Soon afterwards his family moved to West Virginia, where he graduated from Fairmont High School. He then went on to attend the University of Texas at El Paso, where he earned a two-year Associate Degree in Business Management.
He joined the Army on September 13, 1962 and served in Vietnam from 1964 to 1966, receiving the Combat Infantry Badge. He was discharged late in 1966 as a Sergeant (P). After an eight (8) year break in service, he reentered the Army in November 1974, serving eighteen (18) more years - retiring in 1992 as a Sergeant Major.
Butch joined VFW Post 10281 in the Radcliff/Vine Grove, Ky. area in 1999
At the Post level, he served as Senior Vice Commander for one (1) year and Post Commander for two (2) years receiving ALL STATE Commander Award.
At District level, he served as Senior Vice Commander for one (1) year, District Commander for two (2) years receiving the ALL STATE and ALL AMERICAN awards, and District Chief of Staff for onw (1) year.
He has served as chairman of numerous programs, most notably as Membership chairman for six (6) years at Post and District levels. He also, served on the Post House Committee for four (4) years.

Butch and Debbie, his wife for 15 years, reside in Vine Grove, Ky. just outside Ft. Knox. They have a combined family of one son and three daughters, all of whom are VFW Auxiliary members. They have been blessed with six grandchildren.
