Steven "Mike" Penny
District 1 Commander - Army

 

Steven M. Penney served in the US Army from 1989-2001.  He served in the Gulf War where he earned the Combat Infantry Badge and Southwest Asia Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars. In 1995 he deployed to Croatia as part of the Implementation Force under Operation Joint Endeavor and earned the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and NATO Medal with Former Yugoslavia Clasp.

 

Mike Joined the VFW in 2001 as a Life Member.  His wife of 25 years, Candace M Penney, joined the Auxiliary as a Life Member in 2002. They have a daughter, Courtney, who became a Life Member of the Auxiliary in 2016.  Their son, David, who is currently serving in the US Army became a Life Member of the VFW in 2017 after completing his first tour in Afghanistan. They all are members of Jackson Harris Post 1191 in Paducah, KY.

 

Mike has held the positions of Jr. Vice and Sr. Vice Commander at Jackson Harris Post 1191. He has also served as Chaplain, Jr. Vice, and Sr. Vice for District 1 and is currently the Commander for the 1st District.
